FACEBOOK OFFERS SUPPORT TO SMEs
WITH THE ‘GOOD IDEAS FESTIVAL’

Unsurprisingly according to Facebook’s recent Global State of Small Business Report, one in two SMEs in SA are struggling to achieve pre-pandemic profits. While business began improving in the 1st quarter of 2021, the Level 4 lockdown and increasing COVID numbers have knocked economic growth backwards.

Facebook has made a commitment to empower small businesses through these challenging times. In this endeavour, they have launched the Boost with Facebook Good Ideas Festival. A seven-week virtual experience that offers free training, resources, and inspiration, to entrepreneurs just like you, hosted by actress Zoe Saldana.

Knowing the courage it took for these businesses to stay open; Facebook wanted the Good Ideas Festival to put a spotlight on the incredible resilience of some of those businesses.

GOOD NEWS ONLY

Mandela Day is the one day of the year when South Africa unites as a country, in commemoration of a true hero and to do some good.

This year Ladles of Love have taken up the challenge to break the Guinness World Record for the longest line of food cans.

In 2020 they broke the World Record for the most sandwiches made in one hour. Their volunteers showed incredible kindness and managed to create over 300 000 sandwiches in one hour, which were distributed to communities in need.

We at Retail Capital want to make an impact by assisting the homeless, by providing tents and raincoats to a local community in Muizenberg.

The Cape weather is fierce and we saw this as the most immediate need. We will also be providing hot meals to the same community on Mandela Day, watch our social media for more on this!
